SP Cachar, OC Dholai incur bullet injury; SP Hailakandi Ramandeep Kaur in charge
In a complete breach of trust, the Mizoram Government backstabs Assam’s diplomatic attempt. Today morning a clash broke between the arms Civilians in Mizoram and the general public of Cachar. Aided by the Mizoram IR Battalion and Police, 9 Police officials and 5 civilians in Cachar got injured.
The IGP Anurag Agarwal sat down with Kolashib SP at the border in Lailapur. As the SP and senior officials were engaged in dialogues, the Mizos started pelting stones at the officials, press and locals. Within a fraction of a second, the onslaught began and marbles and slingshots were replaced by bullets and assault rifles. Civilians and officials lied down on the ground bleeding. The bloodshed within the territory of Cachar continued as the Assam Police adopted retreat and resist strategy.
Many police officials retreating said they do not have the orders to unleash fire. The strategy backfired as the Superintendent of Police, Cachar Vaibhab Chandrakant Nimbalkar incurred bullet injuries. He was at the line of fire from the very beginning. He has been rushed to the hospital. Soon OC Dholai Sahab Uddin also lied down bleeding. He too got shot at.
After the SP got shot, Cachar Police and Central Forces fired around eight mortars which calmed the situation. Hailakandi SP Ramandeep Kaur rushed to the spot to assume charges.
Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the local MLAs to report to the spot. Accordingly, the elected representatives met the locals and informed that Minister Pijush Hazarika is on his way to Silchar.
Cachar DC, Keerthi Jalli is also at the spot. She remained throughout and was seen meeting injured police officials and jawans.
The local MLAs said Himanta Biswa Sarma has given order to fire to Assam Police.
