Speeding truck kills eight-year-old girl in Cachar, Truck driver absconding

In a tragic incident that took place at Saidpur in Cachar district, an eight-year-old schoolgirl Abida Begum, daughter of Rafiqul Alam, was brutally killed by a speeding 12-wheeler truck while returning home from school on Thursday. The incident occurred at Saidpur Kata Gachtola, when the truck, bearing registration number AS 01 PC 9648, hit the girl, causing her to fall on the road.

As per reports, the truck driver fled from the spot after the collision, leaving the injured girl in a critical condition. The locals rushed to help her and sent the girl to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment. However, the girl succumbed to her injuries and passed away during the course of treatment.

The incident sparked outrage among the family members of the deceased girl and the locals, who blocked the road and demanded justice for the girl. They demanded compensation for the deceased student and punishment for the truck driver who caused the fatal accident. As the situation became heated, hundreds of cars were stuck in the road blockade.

On receiving the news of the blockade, the Police force led by In-Charge of Rangirkhari Police Station and CRPF rushed to the spot alongwith the Magistrate. They assured the protestors that they would co-operate with the family of the deceased girl and that the driver of the truck would be caught and punished accordingly. After getting assurance from the administration, the protestors withdrew the blockade.
