Speeding truck runs over mother and daughter; agitating public sets vehicle ablaze

In a tragic road accident, that happened in front of Lakshmi Charan High School, adjacent to Kabuganj bazar under Sonai constituency of Cachar district, two person were killed, out of which one of them was a minor.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning, when a speeding truck bearing registration number NL-01-AB-3211, ran over a woman, named Pinki Paul and her daughter Tania Paul, when both of them were heading towards the school. The minor was a student of Pranabananda Vidya Mandir School. Both of them reportedly died in spot.

The locals immediately stopped the truck and set it ablaze apart from blocking the NH- 54 on which the incident happened. Getting informed, Deputy Speaker, Aminul Haque Laskar rushed to the spot and also called the additional SP Jagdish Das and ADC Rajiv Roy, to the point of incident.

The angry mob started protesting with the dead body in front of them and blocked the road. The CRPF once started to baton charge the protestors but the heated situation was controlled by the deputy speaker, who spoke to the public and listened to everyone’s demand. Deputy speaker assured the protestors that all required measures would be taken to prevent such a tragic road accident in the future.

The ambulance was then called and the bodies were sent to Silchar Medical College for post mortem. The deputy speaker also paid cash of 25,000 to the deceased family for the last rites.
