Srikona molestation: Assam Rifles orders departmental inquiry against the jawan accused
On September 1, 2019, it was alleged that an Assam Rifle jawan along with a couple of his colleagues tried to molest a school-goer living in the area. The incident took place in Srikona’s TV Tower road. As per the girl’s statement, as she left for her tuition, three jawans started teasing her. She said that they used several slangs and eventually tried to pull her in a rickshaw by force. That is when she started screaming and the locals allegedly came and rescued her.
The locals got irked by the incident and they started beating the jawan. A video went viral on social media where the angry locals are seen manhandling the accused. As per the girl’s father, they were trying to tie the jawan, so that the Police could reach the spot and nab him.
“Meanwhile a truck full of jawans reached the spot and started beating the locals. One of them beat me so hard that I fell down on my face. They then rescued the accused and his colleagues and escorted them,” said the girl’s father.
