Star cricketer Alok Sarkar passes away at 47 after a long battle with kidney issues

Cachar’s Star Cricketer Alok Sarkar has lost in the match of life. After a long battle with kidney-related diseases, the right-handed batsman passed away today at 1.20 in the afternoon. At the time of his death, he was 47 years old. He was severely ill, and on oxygen support when succumbed to the illness at his home in Tarapur.

The sad news of his death spread in the sporting world on Saturday and everyone rushed to his residence to pay their respect and homage to the departed star. He was bedridden for the last two years but was fighting for his life. A few months back the doctors were planning a transplant of his kidney but a sudden cardiac complication couldn’t make the transplant possible.

Back during the peak of his sporting career, he dominated the 22 yards. This all-rounder star was one of his kind and had never been seen before. He has played all forms of cricket and had made a special place in the cricketing world of the valley. The cricketer took his retirement from cricket back in 2007 but played for different clubs even after his retirement. He played his last match in 2013 donning the jersey of Town Club. After that, he still continued to be in the field as a cricket organizer.

In 2019, his health condition started to deteriorate and at one point he had to go for dialysis twice a week. In 2020, the all-rounder’s health deteriorated and he decided to go out of Silchar for further treatment. Everything was decided and even his flight tickets were booked. But due to the pandemic, he was unable to board the flight and go out for treatment. In 2021 he went to Bangalore for treatment and returned back home. His routine checkup was on in Silchar and the dialysis continued.

On Saturday, he breathed his last at his Tarapur residence. He has left behind his wife and son and lots of fans and relatives. Members of the Town Club, Football Academy and Silchar DSA to pay their respect and tribute to the cricket star. The flag of the Silchar DSA was also at half-mast after the death of this all-rounder cricketer.
