Storm: 2-month-old among 3 dead after a house collapses in Sonai’s Kachudaram

In a tragic turn of affairs, a house collapsed in Sonai’s Kachudaram area. Today, a heavy storm has hit Barak Valley and the adjoining areas. An high alert was issued by the Indian Meteorological Department about a cyclone.

According to available information, the house collapsed after it failed to withstand the storm. As many as seven residents were inside the house when the accident took place. Locals rushed to the residence and started rescuing the residents from debris.

All of them were rushed to Sonai Primary Health Care centre. Three individuals were declared brought dead by the doctors at Sonai and the remaining were referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.

The three deceased have been identified as Ayesha Begum Laskar (35), Khushi Begum Laskar (2 months) and Noor Amin Laskar (8 years). The neighbours said they heard a loud noise and that is when they rushed to see what happened.

Deputy speaker and Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar, who is also the BJP candidate from Sonai rushed to the hospital to discuss take stock of the situation. District Disaster Management Authority is handling the matter and necessary steps are being taken.
