Students of NIT Silchar brutally assault kitchen staff alleging them to be thieves; Video Viral
A video has surfaced on Social Media that features students of National Institute of Technology, Silchar, assaulting three individuals, abusing them and using racial slurs. The video has reached the top faculties within the institution and it is alleged that they are trying to play it down.
If sources are to be believed, a meeting was called on Friday among the top officials of the institution to chalk a plan of action.
According to available information, a smartphone went missing in Hostel 4 and the students suspected kitchen staff to be involved in the act. Three kitchen staff assaulted by the students have been identified as Rajkumar Dusad, Vicky Ree, Mona Das, were trapped in Hostel Number 9 by some students. The video features students of NIT wearing the T-Shirts of the institution’s various activities, beating the three trapped.
The kitchen staff continuously pleaded their innocence but the mob of students did not pay any heed to them. Astonishingly, the security guards wearing uniform stood there and paid the role of spectators. One of the three trapped is seen fainting. The students studying in one of the top Engineering institutions in the country, are heard saying that he is acting to have collapsed.
One of the students can be heard calling “Himanshu” who is involved in the assault. Most of the students seen in the video are of the final semester while there are some students of other semester too.
Official Sources in Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that Rajkumar Dusad has been treated at the Hospital by the doctors and since it was a case of assault, CT – Scan and Xray were prescribed.
Police sources informed that an FIR has been lodged at the local Police Station. What action follows is something that remains to be seen. Even if the kitchen staff have robbed the mobile phones, shouldn’t the students inform the warden or the Police Station.
Not long back hockey sticks and knives found inside the car of a student, were making headlines. The spotlight is again on the premier institution’s administration.
