Sushmita Dev resigns from Congress; "We are yet to speak with her," APCC president Bhupen Bora
All India Mahila Congress President and former Silchar MP, Sushmita Dev has updated her “bio” in social media accounts. She mentions, she is a former Indian National Congress member and the former president of All India Mahila Congress. The accounts have been updated late last night and they suggest that she has resigned from the party and all responsibilities in Mahila Congress.
Multiple calls to AICC general secretary and Assam in charge, Jitendra Singh did not incur any responses. Working president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha said he is still not aware of any such development.
Meanwhile, Barak Bulletin managed to access the resignation letter submitted by Dev to Sonia Gandhi on August 15. She writes, “Please treat this letter my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress. I cherish my three-decade-long association with the Indian National Congress. I take this opportunity to thank the Party, all its leaders, member, workers who have been a part of my memorable journey.”
She adds, “Madam, I thank you, personally, for your guidance and the opportunities you gave me. I value the enriching experience. I hope I have your good wishes as I begin a new chapter in my life of public service.”
Bhupen Borah, APCC president said, “We are yet to speak with her. All I know is that she has sent her file last night but we do not have any information about her resignation from the primary membership of Indian National Congress.”
