SVEEP: “Rich History and Progressive future” theme of 8km long Rangoli in Cachar

“It feels like a grand celebration. Everyone immersed in calligraphy,” is what a manager of a multinational company said while passing through Dolu area in Borkhola.

DC Cachar Keerthi Jalli and other officials reached Dolu in the morning to kick start the Rangoli event. As a part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), the administration has planned a massive Rangoli drive. It is set to create history by becoming the world’s longest Rangoli on Voters awareness.

NSS, NCC, Indian Scout, Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tea garden workers, students and many other individuals from different organisations participated in drawing the Rangoli.

The district administration informed that The India Book of Records has already issued the detailed guidelines and criteria for conducting the event as per the International Protocol of Records (IPR). They were invited by the Cachar District Administration to adjudicate the event on March 14.

The claimant, Cachar District Administration, will be eligible to enter in the India Book of Records, 2022 edition if it successfully conducts the event.

The deputy commissioner informed that “Rich history and progressive future is the theme of the 8 kilometres-long Rangoli.” This will take around 24 hours to complete the historical task. The deputy commissioner thanked organisations like the ONGC, various tea estates who volunteered to sponsor equipment, lunch and refreshments.

In this effort to create history, the District Administration of Cachar is being assisted by the Art World group of Silchar. The Cachar District Administration has also invited the media personnel to cover the event which will be held from Dolu Market to Hatichara from 7 am of March 14.
