Tea garden worker dies in road mishap in Hailakandi

A man died in a road mishap on the Aynakhal-Laxminagar road in Hailakandi district on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Ramkrishna Yadav, was a tea garden worker by profession and a resident of Laxminagar.

According to sources, the accident took place this morning when Ramkrishna was hit by another man Zahirul Haque, who was riding on a bike. Ramkrishna was on a bicycle when he was hit on the Aynakhal-Laxminagar road, near Laxminagar tea garden office, around 60km from Silchar.

The other man Zahirul, who was coming from Kotamoni in Karimganj district, was going to attend the funeral ceremony in Hailakandi, sources said.

Receiving the information of the mishap, a team of police rushed to the spot after which Ramkrishna, who was critically injured, was sent to S.K. Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi, where he was declared brought dead. Zahirul, who also sustained injuries, was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
