Teacher in Cachar tests positive for COVID 19; District Admin asks School to remain shut for 5 days

Assistant teacher of 49 Kashipur LP School, Udharbond, Moushomi Paul who was actively taking classes, tested positive for COVID19. On November 15, after returning home from school, she observed that she is developing symptoms. The next day, she got herself tested for COVID19 and the reports stated that she has got infected by the virus.

The next day, the school conducted classes as usual. However, on November 18, the district administration took cognizance of the development and ordered the school to remain shut for five days. At the same time, the Cachar district administration urged the school administration to get all the students, staff and the team associated with mid-day meal to get tested for COVID.

Accordingly, the district administration facilitated the medical team and testing kits. 50 samples were tested today and all tested negative for COVID19, informed head teacher of the institution, Mashuk Alom Choudhury. He added that there are 203 students in the institution but 53 students have attended the classes. There are seven teachers and other staff who will also undergo the mandatory tests.

The head teacher informed that as per the instructions of the deputy commissioner of Cachar, the school will remain shut for a period of five days from November 18 to November 22.
