Thief arrested from Silchar; 8 smartphones recovered

Cachar police apprehended a notorious thief from Silchar on Wednesday afternoon.
The thief Arif Uddin, son of Shahabuddin Laskar, is a resident of Madhurbond.

Cachar superintendent of police Rakesh Roushan said over phone on Wednesday evening that police, on the basis of specific information, set a trap and arrested Arif from Silchar town around 2 pm on Wednesday. Eight smartphones were recovered from his possession, he said.

Arif, who is suspected to be involved in many other criminal activities, is under interrogation. He will be produced before a court on Thursday, Roushan said.

The market price of the recovered mobile phones has not been estimated, as per last available reports.
