Three Bangladeshi alleged to be cow smugglers lynched to death in Karimganj
Three alleged Bangladeshi nationals, who crossed the border to steal cattle, were “physically assaulted” leading to death in Karimganj district on Saturday, police said.
The incident happened in Buborighat Tea Estate of Karimganj district’s Patharkandi circle.
“It is suspected that they entered India to steal cattle. On getting the information, locals gathered around them and started to beat leading to death” Karimganj SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna said.
SP informed that the dead bodies have not been identified yet and they are approaching Bangladesh authorities for the same.
“Belongings which they brought along with them proves their Bangladeshi links, like biscuit, cutters, clothes, bags made in Bangladesh. “ SP said, adding that how they crossed the border is a matter of great concern.
“Many organizations, locals have informed me that cattle smuggling is on the rise along the borderline. We are looking into it to stop further” he added.
It can be mentioned here that in a similar such incident, a Bangladeshi national was lynched to death at Karimganj on suspicion of cattle smuggler, last June
