Three children of the same family got drowned in the Rosekandy tea garden located in ​​Dholai Assembly Constituency casting a spell of mourning in the area due to the tragic demise.

Tea garden worker Sunil Rabidas and his wife Rubiya Rabidas’ three children died while bathing in a pond in the area but no one else was present at the time of the incident and no one knows how it occurred. Their daughter Tandamani Rabidas (14) and two sons Ajay Rabidas (8) and Biki Rabidas (12) drowned at the same time raising suspicions about the incident.

According to family sources, Sunil Rabidas and his wife Rubiya Rabidas were out on Sunday for some work. By three in the afternoon, they returned and found that their children were not at home. At first, it appeared that they might be somewhere in the vicinity for playing sports but after a while, it was known that two bodies have been found floating in a nearby pond. Sunil Rabidas and his wife also went there along with other people from the area. They went and saw the bodies of their two children floating in the pond. Many people immediately jumped in the pond and picked up the two, but by then both had died. After conducting a further search, the unconscious body of their third child was recovered submerged under the water.

Police officers were immediately informed and they came and arranged to take the three bodies to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. After reaching hospital, doctors informed that they had died long ago and drowning was believed to be the primary cause of their death.

The autopsy was not completed on Sunday afternoon due to some difficulties. The bodies of the three children were handed over to the family after completing the whole process on Monday morning.

The people of the area, including the family members, are deeply saddened by the drowning of three children of the same family. The mental state of the parents has worsened owing to the trauma. Meanwhile, Ishwar Bhai Obadia, manager of Roskandi Tea Garden, expressed grief over the incident and assured to be by the side of the family in their difficult time. He also said that efforts would be made to provide some financial assistance to the family from the government.

On the other hand, a 45-year-old factory worker at Dayapur drowned in a pond. After a search and rescue operation, his dead body was recovered. According to the officials present there, the man had gone to take a bath at the pond and somehow slipped into depth. The deceased has been identified as Sridhar Gaur a tea garden worker at Dayapur Tea Estate.
