Three drug smugglers caught in Karimganj

Barak Valley has been left shockened by the emergence of drugs, with numerous operations happening, the youth has come under scanner of consuming and smuggling drugs in the state. Yesterday night, the Karimganj police caught three people with illegal drugs.

Police source shared with BarakBulletin.com that after getting a tip-off; the police team started an operation last night and arrested three young men, who were traveling in an auto. After thorough search, 1.386 kilograms of illegal drugs were found with them.

They have been identified as Burhan Uddin, s/o Masaddar Ali of Kankalash, Bhanga, Pradip Malakar, s/o Kanaibazar and Saheed Ahmed, s/o Soyab Ali of Rahatpur, Bhangabazar. They are currently in police custody.

Talking about the kind and price of the drugs, the source shared, “The drugs are in tablet form and only after forensic reports will we be able to identify its true components. But from prime facia, it looks like WY drugs and could be worth around Rs 10 lakh.”

He also shared that a lot of recovery is happening around Barak Valley and people should be careful to not indulge in these practices. The team will be conducting more operations to bust out these drug peddlers.

Earlier in February, the 147 battalion of CRPF acting on a tip-off regarding illegal possession of contraband drugs consulted Cachar Police and the two authorities then launched a joint operation to seize the party drug from Kalibari Lodge located near Rangpur Petrol Pump in Silchar, Assam. Police arrested two suspects and confiscated 100 packets of ‘WY’ tablets. Each packet consisted195 tablets.
