Tragic end to three lives. A group of labourers stranded without work in Meghalaya decided to hide in a truck and return to their respective homes in Barak Valley. That turned out to be their last journey. In the Badarpur-Jowai highway, the truck lost control and tumbled into a roadside ditch near Lumshnong area.

As per available information, at around 10:30 PM the truck filled with Bitumin which is used for the construction of roads which was headed toward Badarpur from Meghalaya. Near Lumshnong area in Meghalaya the truck rolled down in a ditch and three labourers lost life on the spot. All three of them are residents of Kushiara Kul in Karimganj. They have been identified as Tajel Uddin, Giyash Uddin and Rahim Uddin. In total there were six labourers from the same Kushiar Kul area.

Another individual, Qusur Hussain has got critically injured and is currently admitted in Silchar Medical College and Hospital. As per the wounded, they had run out of savings and that is why they were in a hurry to return home. They said all of them are daily wagers and there is no work available anywhere.

Police officials from the Lumshnong outpost rushed to the spot and rescued the wounded.
