Tipper truck carrying labourer falls in a ditch in Cachar; 10 injured 2 dead

In a terrible road accident in Cachar district’s Borkhola region, one tipper truck got derailed from the road after losing control and fell off the cliff of the highway. The tragic accident occurred at the Bandarkhal area under the Barkhola Legislative Assembly Constituency where a tipper truck carrying labour workers from the Durgachhera area was bound for Bandarkhal when the truck lost control of itself and fell off the cliff to roll down and crash into the ditch.

10 people got injured and two died in this accident on the spot. The wounded have been rushed to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital for immediate treatment. A few of them are reported to be in critical condition.

Among the two dead, one is Noor Mohammad Laskar of the Srikona area under the Silchar police station. The identity of the other deceased is yet to be ascertained. Nilay Kumar Singh, Investigating Officer of the Barkhola police station, said, “The tipper truck was transporting the labourers from Durgachhera area to their destination when the accident happened.”

He added, “The truck lost control of itself and rolled down around 100 metres from the cliff of the highway and crashed near the bank of the Jatinga river. 10 people were injured and have been taken to the SMCH in Silchar. As of now, the identity of only one of the deceased has been known to us, his name is Noor Mohammad Laskar from Srikona. But we haven’t been able to find out the identity of the other deceased yet.”

The injured labourers who were onboard the tipper trick were workers under the Maha Sadak Construction’s Sushee Infra and Mining Limited private company.
