Today is Bijoya Dashami; immersion process started in Silchar

Today is Bijoya Dashami, today Devi Durga will be immersed bringing an end to 4-day festival. Cachar District administration and Silchar Municipality Board jointly took some initiatives to ensure safe and peaceful proceeding of immersion. Not only in Cachar, administrations took step in Karimganj and Hailakandi dictrict too.

In Silchar, the immersion proceeding started at 10:00 AM in the morning. As ordered earlier, apart from Ambulances, Water Tankers, fire brigade engines and vehicle of on duty police officers and judge, no other vehicles are allowed to enter the Municipality area without special permission. In case of emergency one can dial toll free number 1077. DDMA jawans are deployed in Bishorjonghat in Sadarghat to conduct immersion peacefully.

In Karimganj’s Bishorjon ghat, the immersion proceeding a little later at 12:00 noon. Like Silchar, in Hailkandi’s Gandhighat too immersion started at 10:00 AM. Deputy Commissioner of Silchar Adil Khan informed that each and every immersion ghat will be secured by police personnel and a magistrate will be present too.

Meanwhile administration of all three districts have already declared today as a dry day. All the licensee’s are strictly asked to neither sell nor serve local or foreign liquor.
