Town Club storms through the defence of "Favorite" Silchar Sporting, wins 4 - 2

The Town Club’s football team has stunned everyone in the Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Super Division Football League, by defeating the “favourite” Silchar Sporting Club. In Friday’s match at DSA ground, this team defeated Silchar Sporting 4-2. The Silchar Sporting team has been in the hype since the selection of this year’s players. But Town Club’s aggressive performance has puffed down their hype.

Silchar Sporting has not lived up to the expectations of their fans at all. Their performance lacked discipline and probably that’s the reason behind their defeat. Even though this team has practised for many days before the tournament, the scenes in the playground said a different story. They seemed to have no understanding at all. Even at one point, they disobeyed their coach, Subhash Mandal. When the coach wanted to replace the defender Laldingsang with Gaizen Rongmei, the players on the field seemed to disagree with coach Mandal. When the coach went up to the fourth referee with the board to signal for change, the players stood against him. When Laldingsang started walking out of the field, the other players held his hand and didn’t agree with the Coach. This behaviour of Silchar Sporting surprised everyone and Laldingsang remained unchanged.

On the other hand, Town Club’s performance from the beginning was quite the razmataz. At 2 minutes, the pass of Deizing Rongmei secured the first goal for Town Club (1-0). This early goal was not liked by Sporting very much, for obvious reasons and this made them fight even more for a goal now. But, at 25 minutes, Town Club earned their second goal. This was secured by an excellent header from Brinda Riang (2-0). But this didn’t break Sporting’s spirit and they continued their fight for a goal. At 31 and 33 minutes, they missed two easy goals. In all, in the first half, their forward line ruined three easy goals, which highlighted their lack of discipline and mutual understanding.

Leading with 2-0 goals in the first half, made Town Club somewhat defensive at the beginning of the second half. This is what made the chance for Sporting to return to the game. At 53 minutes, playing with the long pass of Jishova Hmar, Sporting’s Jaleshawar Mishra secured their goal (1-2). This was the first time in the match that Town Club looked stressed. At 72 minutes, Deendayal Thapa’s goal brought a ray of hope for victory for the first time for Sporting.

With this the score was 2-All and this literally shooked Town Club entirely. They left their defensive format and started their aggressive format again. They made an aggressive attack from the right. Taking a very difficult corner, Paosingh Rongmei’s goal for Town Club rocked Sporting’s goal post. The last nail in the coffin was at 82 minutes when Brinda Riang scored the fourth goal for Town Club and defeated the so-called “Favourite” to win the match as well as hearts.
