
Tragedy in Sonai: Teen Drowns While Bathing in River, SDRF Finds Body
An unfortunate incident engulfed Sonai in sorrow on Thursday, as a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a drowning incident. After hours of searching, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) successfully recovered his body from the Sonai River, bringing an end to a heartbreaking ordeal for his family and the local community.
On April 3, tragedy struck at Sonai Tulargram Part 1 when Samrat Chanda, a teenage boy, drowned while bathing in the Sonai River with his father. During the bath, Samrat strayed away, and in an unfortunate turn of events, he drowned. The incident serves as a painful reminder of the risks associated with large water bodies.
As soon as his father realised what had happened, he searched for his son but was unable to find him. Authorities were quickly informed, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) arrived at the scene to begin their search operation.
Divers and rescue experts searched for hours before finally locating the boy’s body near the suspected drowning site. As per reports, visuals from the scene showed a large crowd of locals anxiously waiting as the SDRF team worked tirelessly to retrieve the body. Following recovery, the body was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
This tragic incident emphasises the importance of vigilance and caution when near large water bodies. A single moment of distraction can lead to irreversible consequences.
