In Cachar’s  arcuttipore area, a labourer’s house faced a tragic incident, turning into ashes. The entire house, along with essential materials and documents, was destroyed in a fire.

The fire occurred in broad daylight, allegedly due to a short circuit in a newly installed smart meter. The house belonged to Kurban Ali, a day labourer. Before anyone could comprehend the situation, it was too late to save anything.

Upon noticing the fire, locals rushed to help, attempting to control the blaze. The fire brigade also arrived after receiving information, and after a prolonged struggle, they successfully brought the situation under control.

Unfortunately, by the time the fire was extinguished, the house was completely destroyed, and valuable materials and documents were lost. Among the destroyed items were utensils, furniture, cash, and important documents. Reports estimate the fire caused damages worth lakhs.

With no roof over his head, Kurban Ali is now in a dire situation. It is theorised by the locals that the fire originated from a short circuit in the newly installed smart meter. Although further investigation on the matter is required to confirm information.

One of the locals stated that they were working when suddenly they received information about the fire. Immediately, they rushed towards the house to help, attempting to keep things under control. Soon after, the fire brigade arrived.

At the time of their statement, the fire brigade was still working to extinguish the fire, even though the situation was largely under control. Another local informed that nothing could have been saved from the fire. He further stated that a short circuit in the smart meter is believed to be the source of the fire.
