Trains Cancelled, Rescheduled as Goods Wagon Derails in Lumding-Badarpur Section

On the sacred day of Diwali, an unexpected tragedy unfolded as a goods train carrying food grains derailed in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section, causing widespread disruption to train services. The derailment has forced the cancellation, partial cancellation, and rescheduling of several passenger trains, affecting thousands of travellers, particularly from Silchar and surrounding areas of the Barak Valley.

The accident occurred at around 4:00 PM inside tunnel no. 2, near Mupa, located at KM 52/5. The derailment blocked the tracks, halting movement in this key rail section that connects the Barak Valley to other regions. Senior railway officers from Lumding Division are currently at the site, coordinating repair and restoration efforts, with hopes to resume normal train services soon.

Due to the incident, several trains have been cancelled, partially cancelled, or rescheduled. For passengers from Silchar, this includes the Silchar-Rangiya and Rangiya-Silchar services, both set to depart on 31 October. Travellers are advised to check their trains before heading to the station.

1. Train No. 05628 – Agartala to Guwahati, journey starting 31 October 2024
2. Train No. 05627 – Guwahati to Agartala, journey starting 1 November 2024
3. Train No. 05698 – Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri, journey starting 31 October 2024
4. Train No. 05697 – New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati, journey starting 1 November 2024
5. Train No. 15611 – Rangiya to Silchar, journey starting 31 October 2024
6. Train No. 15612 – Silchar to Rangiya, journey starting 31 October 2024
7. Train No. 15617 – Guwahati to Dullabcherra, journey starting 1 November 2024

Partial Cancellation:

Train No. 15618 – Dullabcherra to Guwahati, journey starting 31 October 2024, will operate only between Dullabcherra and New Haflong.

Rescheduled Train:

Train No. 12508 – Silchar to Thiruvananthapuram, now rescheduled to depart at 6:30 AM on 1 November 2024.

Additionally, several trains currently en route are being regulated, meaning they may be delayed or held at stations until further notice to manage the disruption caused by the derailment. Passengers on these services may experience extended travel times.
