Trikal Chakraborty rescues aggressive monocled cobra from AUS Life Science Department, sneaks in to avoid summer heat

During the summer, as the heat soars, it makes it difficult for our reptile friends to live under the ground. In this co-existence, they sometimes cross the boundary of their natural habitat and enter our existence zones. That is also a natural habit, in search of cool shade, snakes might enter your home or building. Yesterday a similar lesson in co-existence created chaos in the Life-Science department of Assam University, Silchar. This reptile friend, a monocled cobra had entered their classroom and needed to be rescued. Trikal Chakraborty, the snake rescuer from the house of Slytherin was called, who rescued the 3.5 footer and relocated it to its shady habitat.

Last morning, when the Assam University’s Life Science department students entered their classroom for a lesson in living organisms and life processes, they didn’t anticipate a practical class. The protruding head of the cobra, who probably was trying to catch a glimpse of the class was welcomed with shrieky screams. This didn’t soothe the ears of the snake and it was starting to become aggressive.

The students panicked, teachers helpless, they called the best person they knew for the job. A fellow varsity student, Trikal Chakraborty, better known for his daring snake rescue, rushed to the spot and swiftly rescued the snake after two and half hours of operation. The wildlife conservationist and a snake rescuer calmly handled the snake and later released it back to its natural habitat.

Trikal Chakraborty said, “A highly venomous monocled cobra hand entered their classroom and was stuck inside a machine. I rushed to the rescue spot and observed the snake’s movements. After securing a parameter, I started my job. It was highly aggressive so it took me more than two hours to get it under control and then I successfully rescued the snake to release it back to its natural habitat”. Chakraborty also told the students about the safety precautions necessary during summer to look out for snakes.
