Troop of BSF cyclists pay tribute to the soldiers of Sepoy Mutiny in Malegarh Crematorium

The cyclists of the BSF bi-cycle rally that started from Tripura Frontier on November 1, reached Malegarh Sepoy Mutiny Crematorium on  Wednesday morning to pay homage to the 26 valorous martyrs who lay there. This 19-membered group of cyclists reached Karimganj on Wednesday and headed on their way to Latur, Malegarh War Memorial.

The cyclists reached Mahisasan, at the India-Bangladesh Border on Wednesday, around 9 AM in the morning.  The group received a warm welcome by the 37th Battalion of the BSF. Pankaj Kumar, Second-in-command of BSF along with Fakirchand Chauhan, Assistant Commandant Azad Singh, and many more officers  were also present at the site to receive them. Men, women and children, along with the school and college students of the locality also greeted  the group with bouquets and garlands, holding the tricolour in their hands. The journey towards the War Memorial of Malegarh set off from there.

With the cooperation of the 37th Battalion of the Border Security Force, the 19 members of the cycle rally group paid their respects with flowers and wreaths to each of the 26 tombs. The cyclists lit lamps at every martyr altar to honour the valour of the brave who now lay on the grounds of Malegarh Crematorium of Sepoy Mutiny.

“To commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the cycle rally has been organised that started from Tripura Frontier on November 1 and will go on till December 12 in Tagore Villa BSF camp, Kolkata”, said Second-in-command Pankaj Kumar. He further added, “The prime motive of the rally is to promote awareness regarding fitness among the people as it has become extremely important to take good care of oneself these days. Cycling is one of the best exercises one can practise to maintain a healthy life. This rally will  encourage people to cycle more and will help to ignite the will to take care of their health”.
