Tuition teaches sexually abuses 12 year old boy, no action taken by Borkhola OC 4 days after FIR

An FIR has been registered against a tuition teacher in Borkhola who sexually abused a seventh standard student. The teacher, Badal Das, has been teaching this 12 year old student for the last three months and on September 8, when he found the young boy alone, he took advantage of the situation and committed this gross assault. Four days have passed since the FIR was registered at Borkhola Police Station, but the police is as silent as a grave and the criminal is at large.

Tanay Choudhury (name changed) is the eldest of two brothers. This 12 year old lives with his grandmother in the Old Bus Stand area in Borkhola. His mother, Kapila Choudhury (name changed) works in a private firm in Silchar and hence lives in the town. On September 8, Thursday when Tanay was found near the bus stand by his tuition teacher, Badal Das, who asked him to come home along as he had some “work”. When he went home along with his “teacher” the demon locked him in a room, and forced him to undress and abused him sexually. During that time, he was alone at home as his grandmother went to accompany his brother to school.

When the kid could understand what was happening with him, he yelled and shouted to draw attention and Badal Das managed to run away. Tanay called his mother in Silchar and told what had happened to him. He asked his mother to come back home, and when she reached Tanay explained the chain of events to his mother. She then filed an FIR at the Borkhola Police Station on the same day, but so far no action has been taken in this matter. The working mother of these two children said, “I have to leave my kids back home due to work and then I hear of such a case happening to them and that too done by their teacher. But even after filing an FIR, the police are silent. Because I am poor and have no money, the OC is treating this matter lightly. Badal Das and his men even threatened to strip off my clothes if I go to the police”.

In such a situation, when a 12 year old has been sexually assaulted by his teacher and the mother is being threatened for life and dignity by the men of this criminal, the Borkhola OC Manmohan Raut and his force pays no heed to this crime. This is a matter of grave concern and comes under the POCSO Act of 2011 and punishment under this act is severe. Why is the police silent in this matter? Is it because the mother of the child is poor or is it because the victim is a male?
