Two fraudsters arrested in Hailakandi for cheating in the name of Chief Minister

Two youths were arrested in Hailakandi for cheating in the name of Chief Minister. The fraudsters named Shahid Uddin and Kailas Ravidas, both of Palarpar area of ​​Algapur constituency in Hailakandi district, were handed over to the Police by the public. They were accused of collecting money in the name of organising the Chief Minister’s Special Student Scholarship Examination.

Two days ago, a youth from Palarpar village in Hailakandi district received a call from an unknown number informing him that he had been selected for the Chief Minister’s Special Student Scholarship. It was informed to him that the scholarship will be paid in three installments with the total amount being Rs 47,000. The two  fraudsters Shahid Uddin and Kailas Ravidas came to the house of youth today morning. They demanded Rs 3,000 in the name of arranging the scholarship examination at the home of the youth.

After hearing this, the teenager’s father, Ajay Singh, became suspicious and called the neighbours. As the neighbors tried to know from them about the exam in details the two fraudsters tried to run away. The neighbors caught the fraudsters and reported to the police.  Police rushed to the spot and arrested the two fraudsters.

Speaking to reporters the youth said, “They called me and told I had been selected for a scholarship of Rs. 16,500. They asked me if I wanted to receive the scholarship and I replied yes. I was asked to submit a passport size photo of mine, a copy of aadhar card and details of the bank account of my father. I don’t know how they got my mobile number. I have a Facebook account but I never gave my number to anyone.”
