Two spot dead in a head-on collision between a Pulsar bike and Cruiser

Another road accident involving a speeding Cruiser! The tragic and fatal incident took place last night in Lala’s Chandrapur area. Assam State Electricity Board’s employees Riten Baruah (30) and Mihir Burman (29) were on their way back to Lala from Ainakhal. Both of them were on a new Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle and on the way in Chandrapur area collided with a fast driving Cruiser.

The head-on collision left both the rider and pillion spot dead. The locals, who rushed to the spot, informed the Police about the accident. The impact was such that the new motorcycle was completely dismantled. Lala Police department’s Chief Inspector Tanvir Ahmed, along with his troops reached the spot and recovered both the dead bodies. The bodies were sent to the morgue of SK Roy Civil Hospital.

Few days back we reported another incident near Assam University Silchar, Dargakona, where a speeding Cruiser lost its control while taking a turn and dashed into the rear end of a truck coming from the other side. The cruiser then went off the road and fell down in a ditch 20 feet below, leaving 15 injured.

One after another accident-involving Cruisers is a serious concern and administration must look into the matter. Also, like in other established parts of the country, in Barak Valley too, speed limit must be monitored and the ones over speeding should be penalised. Stricter traffic rules and constant monitoring is the only way to stop such fatal accidents.

Riten Baruah and Mihir Burman, may your soul rest in peace.
