Two Ukrainian citizens detained in Badarpur Railway Station as they were "travelling without documents"
Two Ukrainian individuals were apprehended by the Railway Protection Force in Badarpur on April 21. They were travelling from Agartala via the Tripura Sundari Express towards New Delhi. As these two men couldn’t produce any passport or visa, they were later arrested by the RPF at Badarpur Junction. Later Ambassy of the war-torn foreign country was contacted by officials and the matter is still under investigation.
On a routine check of the passengers at different trains, the RPF personnel at Badarpur Junction approached two foreigners. When asked about the country they were travelling from, they identified themselves as Ukrainians. Accordingly, the RPF asked them for their Passport or Visa as a part of routine checking. When these individuals couldn’t produce any such documents, the RPF had no choice, but to take them under the Protection Force’s custody. They have been identified as Khrystinoski Vlodimir of 31 years and Nazari Vozniuk of 21 years.
Reliable sources in the NF Railway told Barak Bulletin that when asked about their passports while interrogation, they said they have lost them on their way. Later the RPF personnel at Badarpur handed them over to the Government Railway Police yesterday. The train was headed from Agartala to Firozpur Cantonment Junction in Punjab.
The GRP has contacted the Ukrainian Embassy in India to find their names in the record. From the preliminary search, their names were not found in the records. The ambassy is now running a thorough check to trace these two individuals. Presently, the two individuals are in the custody of GRP and after a further investigation from the ambassy, action will be taken.
