Popular guitar artist Supriya Dasgupta passes away

Silchar’s young guitarist Supriya Dasgupta has passed away untimely. On Sunday morning, after suffering from cerebral stroke, he breathed his last at the Silchar Medical College Hospital. He was only 35 years old.

Supriya Dasgupta became sick while he was performing on stage. The guitarist Supriya, of 2nd link road, lane no 32 on Saturday went to Dolu with Venus Club to perform in a function.

Others were on the stage but Supriya was not feeling well, so wanted to sit down. But in a short span of time, after severe sweating and vomiting, he became unconscious. He was taken to Dulu Primary Health Center shortly after and around 2:30 AM in the night brought to Silchar Medical College Hospital.

But he could not be saved. On Sunday morning he left the mortal world. He left behind his wife, vocal artist Mukta Dasgupta and a 9-year-old daughter. He was well-known as a guitarist in the city’s cultural fraternity. The husband and wife did many concerts on stage together. The entire cultural fraternity of Silchar is mourning with the sudden demise of Supriya Dasgupta.
