UTS mobile app to make life easier for train commuters in Barak Valley

In order to push digital transactions and ease of purchase of train tickets by commuters, including local trains, Northeast Frontier Railway on October 2018 launched a mobile ticketing app ‘UTS’ which is gaining much popularity across the zone.

According to an official source, 31978 passengers have booked ticket using the application, in the month of January 2020, under Badarpur Railway subdivison which amounts to 4.3 lakhs rupees. On average, 1031 tickets have been booked daily via the UTS app generating average daily revenue of around 14,000.

Benefit of the UTS application is that one need not stand in queue for tickets rather he can directly board the train with online ticket. The application can be downloaded from playstore: (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cris.utsmobile  ).

With the app, passengers can easily purchase platform tickets, season tickets and unreserved train tickets from any station to any destination without standing in queue. However passenger has to commence the journey within three hours from booking of the ticket. Renewal of season tickets can also be done easily by using this app.

It is important to mention here that booking a ticket using UTS on Mobile application inside the station premises is not permissible as a passenger should enter the Railway premises after purchasing the ticket.
