
Veteran journalist, Silchar's Pijush Das is no more
Veteran journalist and an activist, Pijush Kanti Das is no more. He has breathed his last at around 11:15 PM at a private nursing home in Guwahati. He was suffering from a kidney-related ailment.
As a journalist, he started his career with daily broadsheet – Dainik Sonar Cachar and then worked with several other print publications. He was associated with television channels too. Apart from being a renowned journalist, Das was known for activism in Barak Valley.
His last professional stint was with television channel News Live. Das was the Silchar bureau chief for the regional channel. “News Live loses one of its most loved and revered journalists. Pijush Das, our Silchar Bureau Chief, breathed his last at a private nursing home in Guwahati a short while ago. He was suffering from kidney-related ailments,” the channel said in a statement.
Das was just 56 years old and left behind his wife Santasree Shome, daughter Sinjini Sauhardya, younger brother Paplu Das besides a host of relatives and friends. “At this time of grief, the entire News Live family offers its deepest condolences to his family following his unexpected and untimely demise and prays for the eternal peace to his departed soul,” the channel added in its statement.
