Violence erupts during football match at Hilara, 7 people including referee injured

In an unfortunate turn of events, what was supposed to be a day of spirited football match turned into a violent clash, leaving 7 individuals injured, including the referee, during a tournament organised by Kalain Uttar Natanpur Social Real Club. The incident unfolded at the Hilara block football ground situated within the Katigorah Assembly Constituency.

The match pitted Kalain Challenger Club against Bhangarpar Youth Challenger Club, two teams that were vying for supremacy on the field. However, with just two minutes remaining in the game, chaos erupted as referee Labhlu Laskar brandished a red card to a player of the Bhangarpar Youth Challenger Club. While the player himself accepted the referee’s decision, an unexpected escalation transpired when substitute players from the dugout stormed onto the field, assaulting the referee with chairs and bamboo sticks.

As a result of the ensuing brawl, the referee, Labhlu Laskar, suffered injuries, including a bleeding head. Additionally, Organising Committee Secretary Abjal Hussain Barbhuiya, Committee President Rahim Uddin Barbhuiya, Committee Member Rajul Ahmed, Challenger Club Goalkeeper Nazim Uddin and player Muzakkir Hussain were also injured in the brawl and were subsequently taken to Kalain Hospital for medical treatment. The identity of another injured individual remains unknown at the time of writing this report.

Remarkably, no official police case has been filed as of yet. However, sources revealed that an out of court settlement has been scheduled for tomorrow to mediate and potentially end the dispute. In the event that an agreement isn’t reached, a formal case will be registered at the local Police Station.

The organisers of the tournament have indicated that the first day of the second round of matches is set to take place tomorrow i.e. Wednesday, despite the unsettling incident that marred today’s game.
