"Vishwa Hindu Parishad or Bajrang Dal has not called for any strike": Clarifies Swapan Suklabaidya
Bandh rumours are doing rounds in Silchar. Leaflets were circulated a few days back which stated that Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal has called for a 12-hour Assam-Bandh on September 6, 2019, as a mark of protest against the published draft of NRC.
To clear the confusion, Swapan Suklabaidya, state spokesperson of VHP has held a press conference. Suklabaidya made it clear that neither VHP nor Bajrang Dal has called for a bandh. He also mentioned that they do not have anything to do with this bandh and they are not supporting it. VHP spokesperson said that he has informed the administration about their stand and has appealed to the people of Cachar and entire Assam to not pay attention to the leaflets calling Bandh.
“Praveen Bhai Togadia was expelled by the organisation for his activities which are completely against our code of conducts. After he got expelled, he started another association viz International Bajrang Dal. This organisation does not have any credentials and we do not have any association with them,” said Suklabaidya.
He went on to say that most of the members who joined International Bajrang Dal are known for anti-social activities.
After ruling out all the Bandh speculations, the VHP spokesperson spoke about the NRC and the organisation’s stand on it. He said that they are in touch with the government and the top leaders have assured them that their demands will be fulfilled. He said that if their demands are not met then they will launch a massive protest, “At the moment the government is cooperating with us and so we have no reason to call for a strike,” he added.
