Vistadome coaches to give tourist a majestic view of Borail range on Silchar-Guwahati route

Finally the day to rejoice, as the Northeast Frontier Railways has finally approved Vistadome coaches in Silchar Guwahati route, which will facilitate tourists and nature lovers to explore the majestic and picturesque Borail range and its river along the hill district, Dima Hasao.

The Vistadome coaches in this route were first promised by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal during a review meeting at Guwahati on Dec, 2018. Since then, ample of meetings and files were signed before finally clearing it on Tuesday.

Vistadome coaches provide panoramic view, through wider body side windows as well as through transparent sections in the roof, thus enabling the passengers to enjoy the scenic beauty of the places through which they travel. Recently, Vistadome coaches on LHB platform have been manufactured with several modern features / amenities.

The facilities provided are adequate and include wide windows, observation window at one end, roof with glass look out with controlled opalescence, rotatable seats, passenger information system, automatic sliding doors, mini pantry, wide door for divyang, Automatic sliding doors, etc.

However railways will not be running a full train with the vistadome coaches rather will just augment one coach with the existing Silchar Guwahati fast passenger train.

As per the sources, the NF Railway has been allotted total 6 vistadome coaches with two for Silchar Guwahati passenger and one each for Alipurduar Jn. – Siliguri and AlipurduarJn Lumding train respectively. Two additional coaches have been allotted as spare.

Apart from this, the NF railway has also upgraded the existing Agartala – Anand Vihar(T) Rajdhani Express to Agartala – Anand Vihar(T) Tejas express. The new train will run as per existing Train No, Timings, Commercial stoppages, Days of run with new Tejas Rake.

Expressing his gratitude towards the railway ministry, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy mentioned that he will specially meet the railway minister and thank him for the coaches. “Vistadome coaches are built under modern coaching system and are equipped with large windows and glass roof tops apart from better surveillance system. These are specially run in routes filled with natural scenery” Roy said to Barak Bulletin, praising the union govt for being in right track to promote rail tourism in the Northeast.

Both the developments come ahead of GM NFR Anshul Gupta’s official Barak and Tripura visit, scheduled tomorrow.
