"Vote us to victory and we will book corrupts in the villages," says CM Sarbananda Sonowal

“Congress has done corruption in Panchayat level for decades. The people of the state stood against it and brought the BJP to power. Now let us take the responsibility of the village and we will bring out all corruption,” chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal assured Barak Valley while seeking votes. He added, ” All corruption in the Panchayat level so many years, will be fully investigated and appropriate measures will be taken against the culprits.”

The CM participated in the election meeting in Lakhipur on Wednesday. He also gave strong assurance that NRC will not exclude any real Indian from the valley.

Former central minister Kabindra Purakayastha, chief minister of Assam, BJP state president Bijuli Kalita, forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Sonai’s MLA Aminul Haq Laskar, Udharband MLA Mihir Kanti Som, Barakhala MLA Kishore Nath, BJP district president Kaushik Rai, BJP state spokesman Rajdip Roy and MLA Dilip Kumar Paul of Silchar took part in the meeting organized in the Pailapur DSA ground.

Chief minister spoke about the 104 crores sanction for the development project of Lakhipur, 10 crores for Pailapur stadium and other development projects of the government. “If the BJP wins at Panchayat level, all the projects that have stopped will resume,” assured Sarba. Besides, the increase in the salaries of tea garden workers and starting mobile medical unit in the garden and many other assurances were given by Sonowal.

Speaking in Bengali, the CM further said, “Followers of Rabindranath Tagore-Nazrul Islam-Bhupen Hazarika have equal rights for their language and community.” Moving towards the NRC, he said, “We have said earlier, whether Barak or Brahmaputra, no real Indian will be excluded. My party and my team are responsible for your security. I was next to each person, I am and will be.”

Around 8,000 people gathered for the public meeting. Lakhipur is the only Congress ruled constituency among the seven in the district. The leaders repeatedly said in their speech that the people of Lakhipur have blocked the development of the area by voting the Congress but now they will not make this mistake. “Now the lotus will bloom in the grass root level and the tide of progress throughout the country will reach here,” they said.

Dilip Kumar Paul said that the people of the state are believing in Sarbananda but the people of Lakhipur have made the mistake by voting for Congress. “For nearly four decades, there have been so much wrong happenings. Mother Lakhsmi has left this place. Vote for BJP and do not give up this opportunity to bring back MAA Lakhsmi to Lakhipur,” he added.

On his part, Kabindra Purakyastha said that Panchayat is the most valuable place for the development of society. “BJP is all over the country. Please give us Panchayat now. Only then the development will come.” Parimal Shuklabaidya also said that the Congress’ education minister had to be jailed for corruption. “Lakhipur money was taken out of Guwahati and was thrown into the water. People lost their lives. But now the days have changed. So we want government in the village because we want to be near to everybody. We want to reach out to even the last person in the village,” said Suklabaidya.
