Youth snatches Rs. 13,000 from man at Udharbond
An unidentified youth reportedly snatched away a cash of Rs. 13,000 from a man at Udharbond in Cachar district on Friday.
Sources said the incident took place around 11am this morning when Mridul Das, a resident of Amaranagar in Cachar district, went to an ATM counter at Diya’s Complex, Udharbond, around 20km from Silchar.
Meanwhile, an unidentified youth entered into the counter and asked Mridul (who was not able to withdraw cash because of some technical glitch in the machine) if he could help him. Thereafter, Mridul gave his ATM card to the youth, who inserted that in the machine and withdrew an amount of Rs. 13,000. The youth then gave the card to Mridul and ran away with the money.
After coming out of the counter, the youth rushed inside a Red Maruti car bearing registration number AS-01 BD-0458 and tried to flee the spot. Mridul chased the car on a motor-cycle followed by a group of local residents.
The car, in the process of fleeing from the spot, overturned near Udharbond Co-Operative Society. The youth, however, managed to whisk away. The car was later brought to Udharbond police station.
Mridul has lodged a first information report at Udharbond police station regarding the incident. There was no arrest made in this connection, as per last available reports.
