
Gumra Murder Probe Gains Pace as Police Net Two More Accused
Police have arrested two more persons in connection with the murder of Joynul Haque in Gumra, Cachar district, taking the total number of arrests in the case to three. The latest arrests were made during a special operation conducted by Gumra Police on Sunday night. The accused have been identified as Sabir Ahmed and Musaddar Ali.
According to police, the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the killing of Joynul Haque, who died following a violent clash allegedly linked to a land dispute in Manikpur under Gumra on 31 May.
Police said two groups were involved in a serious altercation over the dispute, during which Haque sustained grievous injuries. Local residents rushed him to hospital in a critical condition, but he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The incident had sparked concern and tension in the area. Earlier, police had arrested Akaddas Ali, who was identified as one of the main accused in the case.
Investigators said efforts are continuing to trace and apprehend other suspects believed to be involved in the incident. Police added that raids are being carried out at various locations as part of the ongoing operation.
The investigation is underway.
