Higher Secondary: Barak Valley's 3 in merit list all from Commerce stream
Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has declared the results of the higher secondary examination conducted earlier this year. Ramanuj Gupta Junior college’s Binita Saha has secured 466 marks to secure the third position in Commerce stream. The list was led by Krishna Maheshwari of Dibrugarh with 471 marks out of 500 followed by Harpreet Kaur at second with 468 marks.
Apart from Binita Saha, two other students from Barak Valley made it to the list of top students both are from Commerce stream. Vivekananda Junior College’s Sumita Roy secured 453 out 500 to make it to the 8th spot.
Whereas Binita Saha’s classmate from Ramanuj Gupta Junior college Aditya Dutta with 452 out of 500 booked ninth position.
In the Arts stream, a toal of 8018 students had appeared from Cachar and 495 of them passed in first division while the total pass percentage is 65.06 percent. 2997 appeared from Hailakandi and 4917 from Karimganj. The districts secured 56.29 and 80.07 percent pass percentages respectively.
Cachar had 1010 students in Commerce stream and 86.44 percent passed the examination with 276 in the first division. Out of the 346 students in Hailakandi 239 of them managed to crack the test securing 69.08 percent pass percentage. 47 of them secured first division marks. 382 students in Karimganj took the test and 295 of them passed it making it a 77.23 percent pass percentage.
In the Science stream, Cachar had 1672 students and 1502 of them passed the examination securing an 89.83 percent pass percentage. 817 students secured first division marks in the Science stream in Cachar. Hailakandi recorded 80.88 percent pass percentage as 512 of the 633 students who appeared for the test managed to pass it, 221 of them secured first division. 686 students had appeared from Karimganj and out of them, 622 managed to pass it securing 90.67 percent pass percentage which the highest among the three districts in Barak Valley.
