“Himanta Is India’s Most Corrupt CM”: Bhupesh Baghel At Borkhola Rally For Amit Kalwar

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday (April 5) launched a sharp political attack on Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while campaigning for Congress candidate Dr Amit Kalwar in Cachar’s Borkhola constituency.

Addressing a massive election rally at Ghungoor, Baghel alleged that Sarma is “the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country” and accused him of being the “mastermind” behind multiple syndicates involving coal, betel nut and other sectors. He further alleged that while Sarma engages in Hindu-Muslim politics in Assam, he purchases land in foreign countries.

Baghel also levelled serious allegations against the Chief Minister and his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, claiming they have amassed huge illegal wealth. He additionally alleged that Riniki Bhuyan possesses multiple passports.

“Once the Congress comes to power, Himanta Biswa Sarma will have to be in jail,” Baghel said.

In a surprising remark during his speech, Baghel invoked popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, raising slogans of “Joy Zubeen Da.” He announced that justice would be delivered to the singer within 100 days if Congress forms the government.

The rally, attended by a large crowd, is being seen as a major boost to Congress’s campaign in the Borkhola constituency ahead of the elections.
