
HSLC Results 2026 Declared: Dima Hasao Tops, Cachar Records Lowest Pass Percentage
The Assam State School Education Board declared the results of the HSLC Examination 2026 on Friday (April 10). The exams were conducted from February 10 to February 27 across the state.
According to the official press note, a total of 4,38,564 candidates had applied for the examination, out of which 4,29,249 appeared. Among them, 2,81,701 students successfully passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 65.62%.
The data shows that 9,315 candidates were absent, while 135 were expelled and 5 results were withheld. In terms of gender performance, male candidates recorded a pass percentage of 67.78%, while female candidates stood at 63.96%.
Division-wise results indicate that 85,189 students secured first division, 1,50,167 achieved second division, and 46,345 were placed in third division. Additionally, 3,983 candidates obtained distinction, 13,681 secured star marks, and 99,062 received letter marks.
Dima Hasao emerged as the top-performing district with a pass percentage of 88.23%, followed by Sivasagar (84.08%) and Dibrugarh (78.46%). On the other hand, Cachar recorded the lowest pass percentage at 49.13%, highlighting a significant performance gap.

In the merit list, Jyotirmay Das from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bajali secured the first position, followed by Akankha Bhuyan of Biswanath and Jia Farah Islam from Dibrugarh. Surjit Akhtar from Nalbari secured the fourth position.
The board also informed that applications for re-checking and obtaining scanned copies of answer scripts will begin from April 13 through the designated portal. Meanwhile, the compartmental examinations for eligible candidates are scheduled to be held in May 2026.
