Indian Railways announces Silchar - Coimbatore special train; Will leave Silchar every Tuesday at 8:10 PM

As the number of COVID cases declines, and restrictions imposed in different parts of the country are relaxed, the Railways have started to resume many services that were kept off track due to COVID restrictions. Apart from this, the railways are also announcing the new trains.

The NF Railway has announced a special train between Silchar and Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore city, starting next week. The Special Superfast express train, will run from Silchar on every Tuesday whereas from Coimbatore every Sunday. The maiden journey has been scheduled for June 22 from Silchar on 20:10 hrs.

The train will run with 23 coaches with 1 two-tier AC and 4 three-tier AC. The rake will have primary maintenance at Silchar station followed by secondary maintenance at Coimbatore station. In between Silchar and Guwahati, the train will have halts at Bararpur, New Haflong, Maibong, Lumding Jn, and Hojai.

The announcement comes in a period when the nation is rattling with the COVID virus and railways have reduced their feet. When many local passengers train are kept off track citing lack of passengers, how much patronage would the new train get in this restricted times, is yet to be seen.

Among these special trains:

⦁ Train No. 05903 Dibrugarh – Chandigarh weekly express special will run w.e.f. 05-07-2021 until further advice. The train will leave Dibrugarh at 08-05 hours on every Monday to reach Chandigarh at 13-20 hours on Wednesday. In return direction, Train No. 05904 Chandigarh – Dibrugarh weekly express special will run w.e.f. 07-07-2021 2021 until further advice. The train will leave Chandigarh at 23-20 hours on every Wednesday to reach Dibrugargh at 07-55 hours on Saturday.

⦁ Train No. 05630 Silghat Town – Tambaram weekly express special will run w.e.f. 25-06-2021 until further advice. The train will leave Silghat Town at 10-05 hours on every Friday to reach Tambaram at 21-25 hours on Sunday. In return direction, Train No. 05629 Tambaram – Silghat Town weekly express special will run w.e.f. 28-06-2021 until further advice. The train will leave Tambaram at 18-55 hours on every Monday to reach Silghat Town at 04-00 hours on Thursday.

⦁ Train No. 02516 Silchar – Coimbatore superfast special will run w.e.f. 22-06-2021 until further advice. The train will leave Silchar at 20-10 hours on every Tuesday to reach Coimbatore at 12-00 hours on Friday. In return direction, Train No. 02515 Coimbatore – Silchar superfast special will run w.e.f. 27-06-2021 until further advice. The train will leave Coimbatore at 21-45 hours on every Sunday to reach Silchar at 16-50 hours on Wednesday.

⦁ Train No. 06185 Trivandrum – Guwahati superfast summer special will run for four trips from 19th June to 10th July, 2021. The train will leave Trivandrum at 18-00 hours on every Saturday to reach Guwahati at 09-00 hours on Tuesday. In return direction, Train No. 06186 Guwahati – Trivandrum superfast summer special will run for four trips from 23rd June to 14th July, 2021. The train will leave Guwahati at 06-45 hours on every Wednesday to reach Trivandrum at 23-10 hours on Friday.
