International Yoga Day Observed at Historic Khaspur Rajbari in Cachar
The 12th International Yoga Day was observed at the historic Khaspur Rajbari in Cachar on Sunday, with hundreds of participants joining a district-level programme organised by the Cachar district administration.
Cabinet Minister Kaushik Rai attended the event as the chief guest, while Lakhipur MLA Rajdeep Goala was also present. Senior district officials, representatives of various government departments, teachers and a large number of students from different educational institutions took part in the programme.
The event began with a discussion on the significance of International Yoga Day. Participants later performed various yoga postures and breathing exercises under the guidance of trained instructors.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Kaushik Rai highlighted the importance of regular yoga practice in maintaining both physical and mental well-being. He said yoga helps people lead disciplined and positive lives and encouraged citizens to make it a part of their daily routine.
MLA Rajdeep Goala praised the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in promoting yoga and taking India’s cultural heritage to the global stage. He said the growing recognition of yoga around the world reflects the success of these efforts.
Both Rai and Goala stressed the importance of good health and the role yoga can play in achieving it. Rai urged people to continue practising yoga throughout the year rather than limiting it to International Yoga Day celebrations.
The programme concluded with enthusiastic participation from attendees, with the scenic and historic surroundings of Khaspur Rajbari adding to the significance of the occasion.
