Kaushik Rai asks Circle Officer to Suspend Headmaster Over Alleged Negligence in Flood Relief Distribution at Fulbari School
Barak Valley Development Minister Kaushik Rai has recommended disciplinary action against Samar Sinha, the headmaster of Fulbari Public High School in Katigorah, following allegations of negligence in the distribution of relief materials at a flood relief camp set up in the school.
During an inspection visit to several flood relief camps in Katigorah on Thursday (June 5), several flood-affected people told the minister that they had not received any relief supplies, including rice and other essentials, for the past four days. They alleged that whenever they approached the headmaster, who is also the in-charge of the camp, he would dismiss their requests, saying there were no supplies left and that the departmental provisions were limited.
When questioned, headmaster Samar Sinha was reportedly unable to provide proper records of the camp’s operations or details of the requisition made for relief materials. Dissatisfied with the response, Minister Rai expressed his displeasure and asked the Circle Officer to initiate appropriate action.
“If one cannot provide the records of displaced people who took shelter during floods, if the requisition cannot be provided, I think this is a negligence of duty. I have requested the Circle Officer to take action against anyone involved in negligence,” Rai said.
Based on the minister’s directive, the Circle Officer has been asked to look into the matter and take steps in accordance with administrative procedure.
