Love Betrayal Leads To Suicide Attempt In Broad Daylight At Kalain

In a shocking incident of love betrayal, a young woman from Kalain Mougram allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison in broad daylight after being deceived by her lover.

The woman, identified as Mallika Baishnab, reportedly consumed poisonous insecticide on the Gumrah–Saderkhal PWD Road near Gumrah Bazaar on Friday afternoon. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and rescued her. She was first taken to Kalain Hospital, but due to her critical condition, doctors referred her to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), where she is currently undergoing treatment.

According to reports, Mallika had been in a long-term romantic relationship with Sanjib Baishnab of Gumra-Khelma. She alleged that Sanjib maintained physical relations with her several times under the false promise of marriage. Their relationship reportedly lasted for about one and a half years.

However, when Mallika recently asked Sanjib to marry her, he allegedly refused, making excuses and expressing his desire to end the relationship. Distressed by his denial, Mallika approached Sanjib’s family for help, but they allegedly remained indifferent. Feeling betrayed and heartbroken, she decided to take her own life.

Before losing consciousness, Mallika reportedly told police that Sanjib later denied any relationship with her, claiming he had “paid her in return.”
