Marwari Yuva Mancha to organise Free Artificial Limb Transplant Programme for 500 Disabled People
The Marwari Yuva Mancha Silchar Branch has taken a big initiative with the specially-abled people. A three-day prosthetic limb transplant camp is being organised at the premises of Rashtrabhasha Vidyapeeth in Shillongpatty from tomorrow. The prosthetic limbs of 500 specially-abled people will be replaced and the whole process will be free of cost. Any specially abled person can take part in it, they can register in advance or they can take benefits of the organ transplant process by registering their name even after coming to the event.
On behalf of the Marwari Yuva Mancha, Sanjay Nahata, Bhakat Duggar, Promod Sharma, Nishant Jain, Lalit Bothra and others are organising this prosthetic limb transplant camp. They said about 130 people have already been contacted and their names have been registered. Many people are contacting us and the organisers are working to find anyone who needs a limb transplant. Officials of the National Health Mission (NHM) are cooperating in this regard. However, the goal is to provide free limb transplant to 500 disabled people. Four eminent doctors from Patna and Jaipur will take part in it, in collaboration with the local experts.
They said, “There are many disabled people in Barak Valley who are from financially backward backgrounds and as a result are not able to get such limb transplant. In today’s age, where people are able to participate in international level sports with the help of artificial limbs, some people not being able to lead a normal life due to financial weakness, is simply not acceptable. We have done this in the past as well but this time a bigger initiative has been taken. Because in the last 3 years it was not possible to organise the camp due to various difficulties. Many, including the National Marwari Foundation, have extended a helping hand to our initiative.”
The prosthetic limb transplant camp will start tomorrow morning. No official unveiling has been held and political leaders cannot be invited as the is a code of conduct has come into force. However, various government officials including the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Police Superintendent, DIG have been invited to attend the camp at their convenience and witness this event.
