Massive Fire At Water Reservoir Factory In Cachar Causes Over Rs. 3 Crore Loss
A devastating fire broke out at a water reservoir factory in Silchar’s suburban area of South Krishnapur near Sonai Road, around 2 AM on Sunday night (October 12). The blaze rapidly spread, engulfing the entire factory and reducing everything inside to ashes.
According to reports, all the plastic water tanks stored inside the factory were completely burnt in the fire. Raw materials, motors, and machinery were also destroyed, while the store containing the tanks was entirely gutted. The intensity of the fire caused the factory shed to collapse as well.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel and the district disaster response team reached the spot soon after being informed and managed to bring the fire under control after nearly an hour of effort. However, nothing could be saved from the site.
The factory owner, Mustafa Ahmed Barbhuiya, said that the total damage is estimated to be more than Rs. 3 crore. Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have originated from an electrical short circuit, but it spread to this extent because all the goods inside were made of plastic.
