Minister Kaushik Rai Distributes Cheques to 1,700 Beneficiaries Under Nijut Moina Scheme

The Nijut Moina 2.0 event held on Monday (October 27) at Lakhipur witnessed a massive turnout of beneficiaries from across various schools and colleges. The programme, organised at Laboc Ground under the initiative of the Assam government, was marked by enthusiasm and active participation from young students and their parents.

Minister Kaushik Rai attended the event as the chief guest and distributed cheques to the beneficiaries on stage. The symbolic large-sized cheques, often used for photographs during such government events, were handed over to students as a gesture of encouragement and recognition.

While addressing the media, Minister Rai praised Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for his vision behind the Nijut Moina Scheme. He said, “Today we successfully completed our Nijut Moina Cheque Distribution event at Lakhipur. During various events from the Chief Minister himself, we heard that around 3.5 lakh female students studying in colleges, higher secondary schools or universities will receive this cheque. The motive behind it is to make their financial condition easier and to help them continue their education.”

Highlighting the local impact, Minister Rai mentioned that around 1,700 students from nine educational institutes within the Lakhipur Constituency received their cheques during the programme. He expressed gratitude to the students for their participation and wished them the very best in their academic journey.

The Nijut Moina Scheme, launched by the Government of Assam, aims to promote girls’ education and reduce school dropouts among female students. Under this initiative, eligible girls studying at higher secondary, college, or university levels receive financial assistance to help cover their educational expenses. The scheme is part of the state’s broader effort to ensure that every girl in Assam has equal access to education and opportunities for a better future.

As per a poster shared by the Assam Government, a total of 16,684 students in Cachar district will receive the benefits of the Nijut Moina Scheme. Sribhumi district will have 10,042 beneficiaries, while Hailakandi district will have 6,925 students benefitting from the scheme.
