NC Hills' Indigenous Students Forum calls for an indefinite rail blockade

As per latest information coming in, the N.C Hills Indigenous Students Forum has decided to call an indefinite Rail Blockade from 19 April in demand of immediate payment of necessary compensation to railway-affected families.

The forum had called for a strike earlier also but after been given assurance, they had called it off. If this blockade actually happens then it will bring railway services to a standstill, no train from Barak Valley will be able to move out as all trains pass through NC hills.

A source shared with us that even after meeting the railway authorities for more than 15 times; their genuine demands have been ignored. “Not being able to fulfill their promises again and again is a clear indication that the railway authority has no intention to solve the problem, and in that case, they should be prepared to invite more their way,” the source added.
