NFR Races Against Time to Restore Lumding–Badarpur Rail Link After Landslide, As More Train Services Get Affected
Following a massive landslide that disrupted train services along the Lumding–Badarpur hill section, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched round-the-clock restoration efforts. The incident, which led to a complete halt in train operations on this vital route, has prompted emergency measures involving the Railways, State Government, NHAI, and other agencies.
According to a press release issued by the NF Railway’s CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, a high-level review meeting was convened to coordinate the response. Heavy machinery and manpower have been deployed to the site to clear approximately 50,000 cubic metres of debris that damaged the railway retaining wall. Around 30,000 cubic metres must be removed before track repair work can commence.
To ensure passenger safety, NF Railway had to suspend train operations, and restoration is being treated as a top priority, said the press release.
