Power Tiller Accident Leaves Farmer Critically Injured in Dholai

A 27-year-old man was critically injured in a power tiller accident while ploughing agricultural land in South Dholai under the Dholai Assembly constituency. He was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment under close medical observation.

The incident took place at Saptagram in South Dholai. The injured has been identified as Sabir Ahmed, a resident of Aryanpur village under Saptagram Gram Panchayat. He was operating his own power tiller to prepare land for rabi crops when the accident occurred.

According to witnesses, Sabir lost control of the power tiller while moving down a sloping embankment near a fishery. In an attempt to control the machine, his leg got trapped in the rotating blades of the power tiller, which was still running. The fast-moving blades caused severe injuries to his leg.

One witness said Sabir was operating the power tiller himself when his leg got stuck in the machine, resulting in serious injuries. A mechanic had to be called to dismantle the machine to free his leg. Another elderly villager said Sabir lost control and his leg got caught in the blades.

Eyewitnesses said a person nearby immediately rushed forward and switched off the engine. Hearing the cries, villagers gathered at the spot and tried to help, but the leg could not be removed immediately as it was tightly trapped in the rotating blades. Mechanics were called, but their arrival was delayed due to the distance.

Another witness who saw the entire incident said it took around two to two and a half hours to free Sabir’s leg. The witness added that the injury appeared deep and severe, and villagers fear that his leg may not recover fully. It was also stated that anaesthesia was administered during the rescue process to reduce his pain.

After being rescued, Sabir was taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said his condition remains critical, and doctors are closely monitoring his health.
